The Institute for Work Attitude and Motivation (iWAM) is dedicated to advancing the science and practice of motivational assessment in organizational settings. Founded by Dr. Carl L. Harshman, the Institute provides research-based tools, training, and certification for HR professionals, executive coaches, organizational consultants, and business leaders worldwide.

At the core of the Institute's work is the iWAM — a validated psychometric instrument that measures 48 distinct motivational patterns and work attitudes. Unlike personality assessments, the iWAM captures how people are motivated to work, providing actionable insights for selection, development, coaching, and team effectiveness.

Dr. Carl L. Harshman

Dr. Carl L. Harshman is an internationally recognized consultant, author, and educator with more than 40 years of experience in organizational development, leadership, and human performance. He holds a doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh and has worked with organizations across North America, Europe, and Asia. Dr. Harshman developed the iWAM in collaboration with European researchers and has since led its global adoption as a premier tool for motivational assessment.
